Introduction

The Vision of Agricultural Transformation

Founded in 2024 by Mr. Niraj Thapa, an Agriculture Engineer, Thapa Agriculture Farm was established with a bold vision to transform Nepal's agricultural landscape through innovation, sustainability, and commercial excellence. Guided by the philosophy "From Soil to Success," the farm believes that agriculture is the foundation of Nepal's economic independence, food security, national sovereignty, and prosperity.

The journey began with the development of 50 hectares of land in ths Sunsari District of Nepal, dedicated to large-scale commercial farming, demonstrating a commitment to modern agricultural practices, productivity, and long-term sustainability.

Why Agriculture?

Agriculture remains the backbone of Nepal's economy, contributing over 30% of the national GDP and providing livelihoods for more than 65% of the population. Despite its immense significance, the sector has historically received less attention than industries such as hydropower and tourism.

While these sectors play important roles in economic development, they are highly influenced by external factors, including foreign investment, international market dynamics, and geopolitical conditions. Agriculture, however, represents a strategic sector that Nepal can strengthen through its own resources, innovation, and human capital.

A vibrant agricultural sector has the potential to achieve food self-sufficiency, reduce dependence on imports, generate employment, strengthen rural economies, and promote inclusive national development.

Changing the Perception of Agriculture

One of the greatest challenges facing Nepal's agricultural sector is the longstanding perception that farming is a profession of last resort rather than one of opportunity and innovation. This misconception has contributed to the migration of thousands of young Nepalis seeking employment in the Gulf countries, South Korea, Malaysia, Europe, and other destinations, leaving vast areas of fertile agricultural land underutilized.
